- נְמָלָהf. (b. h.; perh. a contr. of נעמלה, fr. עָמֵל) ant. Ḥull.63a (in Chald. dict.) כי הוה חזי נ׳וכ׳ when he saw ants (at work), he used to say, ‘thy righteousness (Ps. 36:7). Deut. R. s. 5; Yalk. Prov. 938 הנ׳ שלשהוכ׳ in the house of the ant there are three stories. Ib. מעשה בנ׳ אחתוכ׳ once an ant dropped a grain of wheat ; a. e.Pl. נְמָלִים, נְמָלִין. Peah IV, 11. Tosef. ib.
